The best COST reduction strategy around Staffing Costs is always to carry out an ACTIVITY based review department by department. Work grows over a period of time in response to both operational as well as strategic pressures. The operational ones are often short term but in the absence of regular reviews often remain long after the real need has disappeared. The classic is the report which is done every month but no-one reads.
Regular reviews of
What are our strategic goals?
What is important to deliver those goals?
What are people actually doing?
What do we stop doing in order to make space for the important?
What implications does that have for people's jobs?
